A break from the Dukan Diet

The book doesn't go into details when it comes to long periods on the diet. Obviously when you "hit a wall", you should exercise a little more and perhaps eat a little less.

My PP phase #14 didn't go so well with a rise of 0.9 Kg over the 5-day period. No change to my eating habits, no cheating, but I think the onset of the cold weather may have had something to do with it. Perhaps my body reacted to the cold and decided to stock up for the cold. This is not an exact science.

The PL phase #15 went a bit better. I lost 0.6 Kg over the period and I walked every day of the week. A good 45 minute walk at a good pace. This was the week when the cold rain and frost turned to snow and ice. There is still snow everywhere here (photo of the garden below) and it's quite nice to walk around the town in these conditions.


I have now decided to take a break from the diet. It is tiring to be constantly watching your weight and depressing when you increase your weight when you've been dieting and exercising.

So I am not going to weigh myself every day until after the 6th January. I shall still eat sensibly, not drink too much and keep walking through the snow. I'll even put up a few recipes for a Dukan Christmas feast.

  1. I'm not sure about not weighing yourself, I'm also taking a break but I'm still weighing myself and I was was at my LOWEST weight on Friday morning. I'm being careful but I'm drinking and eating things I usually don't!

    By weighing myself I know that I can or cannot eat certain things.

    I'm not stopping the exercise and still working out.

    Good luck with it, don't let it get out of sight, this is the worse thing you could do, to put on TOO much and be discouraged to continue after January.

  2. No, I have more weight to loose and I know that this diet works well. It is the easiest way for me to loose weight.

    I don't want to get depressed by seeing my weight go up or down for a while. Out of sight - out of mind... but I may take a peek now and then.
