Report PL #14

I skipped the last PP report - I felt as though nothing much had changed - it had actually - I lost 0.8 Kg over the 5-day period. This PL period I've lost 0.8 Kg, but it's better than the previous PL period where I lost 0.1 Kg.

What frustrates me, even though I'm not going up is just staying the same weight. 3 times in the last 6 days I've just stayed on the same weight. Anyway, here is the graph:

The graph is flattening out and it's taking longer to loose the weight. I suppose that I am physically more able to go out and work off the rest by some energetic method, but I'm loath to do so these days. The bad winter weather is not pleasant waking and I haven't felt like sweating in the exercise machines. Perhaps tomorrow...

  1. My wife actually stopped doing the diet in a strict way for a while due to this frustration!

So she said, no more paraffin oil for me and for a week she dieted differently (kind of Montignac), she maintained but was satisfied at being able to drink and eat differently, then she came back to Dukan and lost a couple of kilos and now she is gone again ;-)

I reached my goal which was 5 kilos less than Dukan said (a month sooner as well) and I had a weekend of eating more or less what I wanted .. Now on PP to lose 2.4 kilos before I continue stabilisation again.

I have to admit I was a very naughty boy during the last weekend but I'm satisfied! 5.5 months of paraffin oil is a long time ;-)

  2. Hi J,

I've never had paraffin oil and don't intend to try.

Doesn't it put a lining on the gut preventing the absorption of some nutrients?

  3. Just thinking about this a little more. Why did you both continue to take paraffin oil? To help with digestion?

The book doesn't say that paraffin oil is obligatory.

Have you tried eating Oat bran (pancakes)? This also works.

  4. Hi mate, We find that using paraffin we can make vinaigrettes and lots of sauces and mayonnaise that we would otherwise have to do without!

The paraffin was simply used as an example, it was not THE crucial factor it is one of the things that replaces our olive oil which we have to do without ;-)

You would be amazed at the cocktail and other sauces Joelle can make using paraffin oil ;-)

  5. I imagined you taking spoonfuls in the morning with your vitamins like a poor kid getting a dose of cod-liver oil.

We used to go through a bottle of olive oil a month. Now we still have the bottle bought in July and pull it out for guests. I can live without it for the moment.

  7. You really don't need paraffin oil. It is completely optional. I've never had it and don't intend to.

But perhaps our good friend 'rocteur' can provide a link to where he gets his from.

  9. Work for what?

Helping digestion or using in cooking on salads etc.?

For digestion and avoiding constipation, a couple of tablespoons of oat bran - made into an oat bran pancake is fine. This is the famous Dukan Galette.

The wife and I haven't needed anything else.
